Well so much for updating everyday ...or week. I promise I'll update more!

So..here's a drawing of my cat Milo to tide you over. He actually poses like that, with his tail covering his naughty bits.

Sketchy Wombat

ART AND DESIGN BY LEAH SCHWARTZ

So my nickname of the "sketchy wombat" comes from the fact that when I draw, it's VERY gestural and sketchy and stuff. That and I'm a HUGE mess when I finish. I've also been called "expressive" and "free spirited" but "sketchy wombat" works best *grins*

We worked on a 36 x 42 still life in my class. This is the BIGGEST that I have ever done (some people cut theirs down but...meh).

This is the outcome. I really need to learn to bring my camera to class so that I'm not curving my body in strange positions to get the pics from the iSight.

Landseer

Art and Design by Leah Schwartz

Done for my Digital Illustration class, Fall 2008. We had to create a sports logo using only three colors (black counted as one). So I created a fictional hockey team called the Newfoundland Landseers (like the dog breed). It's a very "ocean oriented" country so I wanted to show that in the colors. Done while still learning Illustrator.

New Kid On The Block

Art and Design By Leah Schwartz

First post!! Guess I should do the "Introductory Post" as well, hmm?

First off, my name is Leah Schwartz and thanks for the time that you, the reader, are taking out of your busy life to check out my work. It's appreciated! Really!

I'm from a costal city in CT. Art has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I studied at Canisius College's Digital Media Arts program but decided that I needed to attend an "art school" after a professor there brought out my love for animation. Currently I'm attending community college while trying to apply to an art institute.

My dream in life is to be a character designer, illustrator, or storyboard artist for an animation studio. I love doing concept art. You will very rarely see me without my sketchbook at any point in time.

My idols/inspirations are C.H. Greenblatt, Hugh Laurie, Maxwell Atoms, Stephen Fry, Ralph Bakshi, Tim Lamb, Stephen Colbert, Milowerx , and Stephen Silver.

This blog is mainly for posting my work and I'm planning on posting something each day (or at least every other day). About my blog title...one of my favorite art professors has always described my work as "sketchy" but "very energetic". Wombats are my favorite animal. Put them together and you get The Sketchy Wombat. In reality I'm a very sweet non-marsupial.

*thinks* Guess that's about it...

Cheers,

Leah Schwartz
